Caserta is notoriously known as the ““Versailles di Napoli”” for the Palazzo Regal constructed by Carlo di Borbone in the 18th century.
The palace is considered one of the most luxurious in Italy with 1200 rooms full of candelabra, frescos, tapestries and history.
The marvellous gardens surround the waterfall of 75 metre and is visible up to 3 km from the palace. After the marvels of Caserta we continue on to Cassino (free time for lunch) and visit the famous Abbey founded by San Benedetto of Norcia in 529.
During the Second World War this was completely destroyed and afterwards repaired to its former glory.
