After a one hour drive south of Naples you will find Salerno, which in medieval times was the world capital of medicine.
One of the most famous medical texts the “Regimen Sanitas Salerni” written in Latin and translated in almost all the European languages.
To the East of Salerno and after Pontecagnano, Battipaglia and Eboli we will find Paestum with its four temples and walls splendidly conserved.
The Temple of Poseidon (Nettuno) and the Basilica from the 6th century that in reality is a temple dedicated to Hera (the principle divinity of Paestum). Free time for lunch before the visit.
Return to Sorrento. |
